The Abu Dhabi race in 2021 is one of the most controversial races in Formula 1 history. It changed the outcome of the 2024 championship title after a controversial call given by the race director Michale Masi. Hamilton and Verstappen entered the race with the same points for the driver's title.

Whoever wins the final race will take the championship. Mercedes sealed their 8th constructors title in the Saudi Arabia GP. They are onto the driver's title for the 8th time. The race started and Hamilton was in the lead for most of the races. He was on his way to win his eighth world title. Williams driver Latiffi came in as a surprise and while trying to overtake Mick Schumacher he crashed into the barrier which brought the safety car.

There are only a few laps left and between race leader Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, and there are only 5 lapped cars. Usually, in the safety car period, all lapped cars are allowed to unlap themselves. So, they will circle the entire circuit and fall behind the leaders in an order.

With only a handful of time left for the race, the then director Michael Masi gave a controversial call with the order to unlap only those 5 cars between Hamilton and Verstappen. This allowed an immediate start to the race and Verstappen with his new soft tyres overtook Hamilton in the final lap and won the 2021 Formula 1 championship.

Watching this was very thrilling and fun though not for Lewis and Mercedes boss Toto Wolff. We have an exclusive fans' point of view where Lewis Hamilton is Surpassed by Max Verstappen and fans are shouting in joy as they are going to see a new world champion. Lewis Hamilton tried hard to regain position but he failed which ended his championship winning streak. He also lost his chance to become 8 time world champion surpassing Michael Schumacher due to the controversial call.
