FIA President Mohammad Ben Sulayem has accused the British media of mistreatment in his tenure. Recently, Adrian Newey stated that Max Verstappen and Ex Red Bull Driver, 4-time world champion Sebastian Vettel were unfairly treated by the British media.

He said, “There is this sort of demonisation, both of them suffered at times driving for Red Bull, which is unfair.” The FIA President Ben Sulayem agreed with the renowned Car designer and he also told his opinion about the media.

FIA President Accuses British Media

Sulayem said, “I respect Max because I'm a driver. I was a champion and I respect winners and champions. I see he had his share of mistreatment, but let's talk about me. If you look at the British media and what they did to me… For God’s Sake, they convicted me. They didn't accuse me, but they kept on going. And do I care? No. Why? Because what are they after? They are after selling and getting more coverage for them. Of course, yes. But they have no power over me and FIA.”

The FIA President says the media don't have the vote to elect him. Only the world membership elected him as the president. He also said he doesn't need to answer the media he only needs to answer the members and the motorsport. Next year there will be an election for the post of FIA president and Ben Sulayem hopes he will be reelected as president.  He is also very proud of his tenure and says FIA is in a better state than it was in 2021.

Recently FIA president Ben Sulayem came under fire for swearing over a radio controversy as he compared F1 drivers with Rappers. FIA also punished Verstappen with community service. Max Verstappen admitted if this continues he no longer will have interest to continue in F1.
