Mexican Formula 1 driver and Max Verstappen’s former Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez has posted a pic on his social media about meeting football legend and Spanish defender Sergio Ramos. He was a member of the Spanish World Cup-winning team in 2010. Ramos also played for the Real Madrid team alongside legendary Christiano Ronaldo. He is now closing on a deal to join the Liga MX with Monterrey. It is a top professional football league in Mexico that features 18 clubs and it is one of the most competitive football leagues in North and Central America.

Monterrey is one of the biggest clubs and Sergio Ramos is close to signing a deal with the team. Apart from Formula 1 Sergio Perez likes Football more than any other sport and is a huge Football fan. He was recently seen with another football legend Lionel Messi during a match between Inter Miami and Club America.

Now he met Sergio Ramos, another Veteran footballer from Spain. He posted the picture of him and the former Real Madrid player with Mexican and Spanish flags. Monterrey is conducting physical tests for Sergio Ramos before signing the former Sevilla player to the team.

Sergio Perez says his loyalty lies with Real Madrid in Europe and Club America in his home continent. Checo is the most successful Formula 1 driver from Mexico as he is always known to be the podium finisher and point scorer. But last year his form slumped and suddenly he was surrounded by knives questioning his place inside the Red Bull team.

The Management also made the tough decision to sack Perez and bring the young New Zealander Liam Lawson into the team for the 2025 Formula 1 season. Perez will stay with the Milton Keynes squad as a driver, not for F1 racing, but to carry out media duties like driving old Red Bull cars in promotional events. But we expect Checo to return to Formula 1 in the 2026 season driving for a new team.
