Formula 1 2024 season was very tough for the Mexican driver Sergio Perez. He was driving for the Red Bull team and was the teammate of the world champion Max verstappen. Perez was with the Milton Keynes team for four years and was the biggest reason for their success.
Last year he was not in his best form as he struggled with his car which had many balance issues. He only scored 152 points while his teammate Max verstappen retained his world championship with 437 points. This massive gap between the two drivers cost Red Bull their constructors championship as they slipped to third place behind Ferrari.
After the season, the leadership group headed by Red Bull Advisor Helmut Marko and Team Principal Christian Horner negotiated a meeting with Sergio. There it was decided that they would move on from him at the end of the year. They signed Liam Lawson their junior driver at VCARB and Checo will handle the media duties and promotional events for the Austrian team.

Perez Speaks out
Sergio Perez announced his departure through Social media and Red Bull also officially announced the news in their Social media accounts. Even if team principal Horner said Checo decided to leave the team, everybody knows he was sacked. For the first time after his exit from the team, Sergio Perez opened up about the whole Saga during a press meet in his hometown. Perez said, “My priority is to enjoy myself, to do things I haven't done, to be with my family. In the next six months, I will decide on what I want for the next step in my career.”
The Mexican was asked whether there was any intention to return to Formula 1 in the future, and he said, “It's too early to give an answer as to whether I intend to return to Formula 1. Everything happened very quickly at the end of the last season, I didnt expect to leave the team.”
We believe the 34-year-old driver will return in the 2026 season where we will have a new team Cadillac F1. It will open up two new vacancies for drivers. GM is a big brand in Mexico and having Sergio in their team will be very useful for the American brand. Checo is also a North American man so everything syncs very well.
