Former Red Bull driver Sergio Perez met football great Lionel Messi during the Inter Miami vs America match. Checo is a huge football fan. He even goes with his son to soccer matches during his non-racing days back in Mexico.
Sergio had a rough year in 2024 as he couldn't perform well for his team and lost his seat to youngster Liam Lawson. He had many issues in his Red Bull car that stopped him from performing at his best and he was more than 280 points behind his teammate Max Verstappen.

There were also rumours regarding his retirement but Perez clarified that he will take some more time to think of retirement and his current wish is to spend more time with his family and kids. On returning to Formula 1, Checo said, If he gets the right opportunity, he will think of returning to Formula 1.
The 2026 season will be the right opportunity that Checo has been waiting for, as more driver seats will become vacant. Cadillac F1 will also enter Formula 1 as the 11th team. As an American brand, Cadillac could prefer going with someone like him.

Perez spotted with Messi
Perez has all the possibilities of returning to Formula 1 with the Cadillac F1. For now, Sergio Perez is free to spend time with his wife and kids. His son is a huge football fan so both went to the Inter Miami vs America match.
Popular football star Lionel Messi is playing for the Inter Miami team. Perez is a big fan of Lionel Messi so he supported Inter Miami. The match was drawn 2-2 and went to the penalties, where Messi’s team won 3-2.
After the match, Lionel Messi took photos and selfies with the fans and Perez was seen with the Argentinean legend taking photos and having a little chat. He even takes his phone and clicks pictures of Messi with his fans, which shows how much Perez loves Messi.
