During his time with McLaren, his journey got off to the worst possible start.Lewis Hamilton, his Spanish teammates Fernando Alonso, a two-time F1 drivers' champion, and Pedro de la Rosa, a reserve driver, were testing for the Woking-based team at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia on January 25, 2007, less than two months before the upcoming Formula One season was scheduled to begin.

As he prepared to start his first Formula One season at the age of 22, Hamilton could count the number of days he had spent in an F1 car. When Hamilton lost control of his MP4-22 at 185 mph, or just under 300 km/h, he was traveling straight down the pit during the private test in Valencia

This led him to spin out, flying rearward into a gravel trap and into a tire barrier. Fortunately, he was unharmed. "Unfortunately with this sport, these things happen. I am completely fine and was conscious throughout," the British driver said at the time. His vehicle, unfortunately, was not spared. McLaren was compelled to finish the test with just one vehicle, which it would also have to face to begin the next test.

What's next for Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari

This week, Lewis Hamilton's first images and videos of himself driving a Ferrari have taken the Formula One world and social media by storm. The seven-time F1 driver's champion made his first trip to Maranello as a member of the Scuderia, completing 30 laps on the Fiorano test circuit for the Italian team. His first race with Ferrari will be the Australian Grand Prix. Since 2015 Lewis Hamilton has missed winning the Australian GP but this time around with Ferrari he aims to win the Australian Grand Prix.
