The reigning world champion Max Verstappen is the best driver in the current grid. Verstappen’s heroics in Brazil GP last year proved that he is going down as one of the all-time greats in Formula 1 history. Having him in the team is the only reason Red Bull has an edge over McLaren and Ferrari.

The Dutch driver is the big difference and without him, the Austrian team is not seen as a title challenger. Red Bull is now the third-fastest team on the grid and if they don't make a championship-winning car in 2025 and 2026 it could force Verstappen to make some hard decisions.

Max has a contract with Red Bull until the end of the 2028 season. Some clauses would allow him to untie himself from the energy drink team and join others. Red Bull's rivals Mercedes and Aston Martin are targetting Verstappen with all kinds of bids.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff said Verstappen should have been a Mercedes driver by now but in 2015, having Nico Rosberg in the team has cost them to lose Verstappen to Red Bull. The 2026 Engine regulations are promising for Mercedes as they are the biggest power unit suppliers on the grid.

1 Billion Euros for Verstappen

We now have another team showing Massive interest in signing Max Verstappen. Aston Martin F1 is the other team that wants Verstappen to drive for them and they are even bidding a historic 1 billion Euros for the Dutchman.

Aston Martin already has Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso in their team. Both their deals are until the end of the 2026 season. Last year they brought renowned Formula 1 designer Adrian Newey and Honda for the 2026 season.

Honda and Newey are very close to Max as their partnership gave him all the success with Max winning 4 Formula 1 world championships. The Japanese auto manufacturer’s engine deal with Red Bull ends in the 2025 season and after that, they will be moving to Aston Martin.

The 1 billion deal will not be for one season. Max Verstappen would earn 200 million Euros per year and for 5 years he would earn 1 billion Euros. But both Max and Aston Martin denied the rumours. Aston Martin wants to become a world championship-winning team and with Adrian Newey, Max Verstappen and Honda by their side, everything is looking possible for them to achieve their dream.

Many experts believe that if the next two seasons don't go well for Max Verstappen at Red Bull, he will definitely move on. The presence of Adrian Newey and Honda on Aston Martin's side will be a huge attraction for Max Verstappen to join them.
