Lewis Hamilton will be the new teammate of Charles Leclerc who has been with Ferrari for the last 6 years. He was also the number one driver for them until now.

Since Michael Schumacher, no other Formula 1 driver has made such an impact as Lewis Hamilton. The British driver's move to Ferrari broke the internet and for the last 10 days, everybody has been talking about Hamilton’s days at Ferrari. Formula 1’s other big name, Max Verstappen, has gone behind the shadows of Hamilton and Ferrari in the last few days. The 7-time world champion's name and brand value have overshadowed everything.

Ferrari have even forgotten their main driver, Charles Leclerc, who has worked so hard for the team. This proves they are betting high on Lewis Hamilton over Leclerc. The British driver has brought them more sponsorship and interest, which would help them develop even further in the sport. But is it fair to see that way? Or is it a part of the strategy to divert their rivals? Let's analyse.
Unlike many other teams in Formula 1, the Maranello team always had a number 1 driver and made their strategy according to their main driver. Over the years, many drivers were treated as Number 1 in Ferrari.Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc. But what happened to these Number 1’s? Everyone failed during their last few years with the team. The Monegasque hasn't failed yet, but finishing second is also a failure and in Formula 1, winning is the only thing that matters.
Whether you agree or not, Hamilton has always made the right decisions at the right time. Because of his right decisions, he is now the greatest Formula 1 driver of all time. He is also considered a lucky star, as everywhere he goes he brings success.
McLaren was struggling after Mika Hakkinen retired and they brought young rookie Lewis Hamilton into the team and he gave them the championship. Even during the 2009-2013 period, he was very consistent and was challenging for the championships.
After joining Mercedes in 2013, Hamilton brought improvement and clarity. He changed Mercedes into a race-winning machine as they dominated the grid from 2014 to 2021 F1 seasons. Ferrari is also looking to achieve the same success with Lewis and that's the reason Fred Vasseur signed him firsthand.
Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton are talented and both deserve a championship. But the British driver has won 105 races and 7 championships, which puts him on a higher rank. Looking at their current form, the Monegasque is quicker and has more experience working with Ferrari. So the 2025 season should start first and whoever takes advantage over the others will be the number 1 at Ferrari.
