Red Bull replaces Daniel Ricciardo with Liam Lawson for the rest of the 2024 Formula 1 season

Daniel Ricciardo was most successful during his Red Bull times. He won 8 races and finished third in 2014 and 2016. He won his last race in the 2021 Italian GP.

Red Bull racing Formula 1 team sacked the Australian Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo from the RB team. He is replaced by the New Zealander Liam Lawson for the rest of the 2024 Formula 1 season. Daniel Ricciardo was let go by the RB team on Thursday after a disappointing 2024 season where he was completely dominated by his teammate Yuki Tsunoda. The Driver was in Formula 1 for 14 long years. He was part of the Red Bull team and then he moved to Renault and McLaren and again brought back to Red Bulls Junior team RB.

RB Team Confirms seperation

The RB Team principal spoke about Daniel and his F1 Career. He said, “Everyone here at VCARB would like to thank Daniel for his hard work across the last two seasons with us. He has brought a lot of experience and talent to the team and a fantastic attitude, which has helped everyone develop and foster a tight team spirit. Daniel has been a true gentleman both on and off the track and never without that smile, He will be missed, but will always hold a special place within the Red Bull family.” 

In the 2024 season, Ricciardo is standing 14th. He raced 258 races and 14 seasons. During his time in Formula 1, he won 8 races, 32 podiums, and 1,329 points. In 2014 and 2016 he finished third in drivers standings. His last victory was in the 2021 Italian Grand Prix for McLaren. 

Liam Lawson who is going to replace Daniel Ricciardo is 22 years old and has been a reserve driver since 2022. Red Bull will now have 2 junior drivers who are both young and talented could be their senior team drivers and champions in the future.



Ricciardo on his F1 Journey said, “I’ve loved this sport my whole life. It's wild and wonderful and has been a journey. To the teams and individuals that have played their part, thank you. To the fans who love the sport sometimes more than me haha thank you. It’ll always have its highs and lows but it’s been fun and truth be told I Wouldn’t change it. Until the next adventure.”
