The reigning world champion Max Verstappen has applied to trademark his radio catchphrase “Simply Lovely” for a clothing brand. The European Union said Max applied for a trademark last May. The world champion is planning to use his radio catchphrase on a range of garments like Clothing, footwear, headgear and many more. In his application, it is described as “Simply Lovely by Max Verstappen.” If the catchphrase is trademarked then he will have the right to use it for advertising and other purposes and no one can use it apart from him.

Famous Catchphrase history

The Dutch driver first used the catchphrase when he passed Sebastian Vettel at the 2017 Mexican GP. On his radio, he said “Simply, Simply Lovely,” and his race engineer replied, “Oh, simply mate.” After that Vettel collided with Hamilton and Verstappen became the winner of the race helping Hamilton to clinch his fourth world title.

After that Verstappen used his trademark in the United States sprint race. But his rival Lando Norris recently adopted his trademark during the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort this year. Lando beat Verstappen by 22 seconds and he told his race engineer “Simply Lovely, man.”

Verstappen losing 22 seconds behind is very unusual as it created speculations about the Red Bull car and its performance. He lastly won at the Spanish GP which was 9 races before. Verstappen and Lando Norris are in the title race this year and Lando already closing the gap between him and the reigning world champion. The gap is now just 52 seconds and still, there are 6 races.

Red Bull are working very hard to solve the issues in their car. In the upcoming United States Grand Prix many teams are expected to bring some new upgrades and Red Bull will also come with some altered floor changes. McLaren is leading Red Bull in the constructors title and Max Verstappen is leading Lando Norris by 52 points in the drivers title. Verstappen will hope to end his winless drought in the United States Grand Prix.
