This 2024 Formula 1 Season started normally, with Max Verstappen and Red Bull dominating the season with 7 wins in 10 races. Everyone thought it would be a cakewalk for Red Bull and Co, but things suddenly started to change. McLaren out of nowhere came with some major developments mid-season and halted Red Bull’s victory run.
McLaren’s MCL38 is the fastest car in the grid even without the DRS. They now lead the constructors championship and are now in a hunt for the driver's title. McLaren’s Lando Norris is 52 points behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and is the only challenger for this year's championship title. He was promised by his team that he would be given every priority to win this year's F1 title.
Who can become the World champion?
There are 6 races left in the 2024 season and there are three sprint races. So a total of 180 points are left for grabs. The top seven drivers can still win this year's world championship mathematically. But out of these seven Lando Norris is the only driver to have some practical chance against Max Verstappen.
Lando Norris’s chances
In the next 6 races, Lando Norris should score 6 points over Max Verstappen to become F1 2024 champion. Then it will be a showdown at the AbuDhabi Grand Prix just like the 2021 F1 season where Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen fought for the world title in the final race. Norris should win all his remaining races with the fastest lap bonus points. He also wants Verstappen to finish second or lower in every race and also in sprint, he should be below third position. In every race, Norris should finish in the Top three to win the championship.
Verstappen’s got a big chance
Though there are many possibilities for Lando Norris to win this year's championship title Max Verstappen is still the favourite to win. Red Bull and Max Verstappen were expected to bounce back from their recent troubles and will fight harder than ever. Just 129 points in the remaining 6 races is enough for Verstappen to become the fourth-time world champion. The maximum points Lando Norris can finish this year is 128 points. Max needs to ensure he doesn't finish far behind Lando Norris in the remaining races which is enough for him.
