The Austrian Machine surprised everyone at the free practice session 2 in Japan with the fastest lap overcoming every challenge by the Italian brand Ducati. Brad Binder of the Red Bull KTM factory racing team got all the honours at the free practice session 2 in MotoGP’s Japanese weekend with a 1.43.436 lap time.

Binder gave a surprise

The Austrian team was never in a competition because the Ducati bikes have dominated every race for the last couple of years. Even in this session, everyone thought anyone of the Ducati would lead. But KTM and Brad Binder gave a big surprise. Another shocker was when Marc Marquez of the Gresini Racing found his lost mojo back as he finished second in the session ahead of Championship Leader Jorge Martin with a 1.43.469 lap time.

Martin came third with 1.43.568 lap time ahead of Pedro Acosta of KTM who finished with 1.43.583. Ducati’s other rider Enea Bastianini finished fifth with a 1.43.605 lap time. Maverick Vinales of the Aprilia team finished sixth, and reigning champion and Ducati’s Factory team rider Francesco Baganaia finished seventh at the end of the session. Gresini Racing’s Alex Marquez finished eighth, and VR 46 duo Fabio Di Giannantonio and Marco Bezzecchi finished in the last 2 spots of the top 10.

Jack Miller of KTM crashed mid of the session and finished 11th, Takaaki Nakagami (Honda) finished 12th, Franco Morbidelli 13th, Fabio Quartararo at 14th, Alexi Espargaro finished 15th, Joan Mir finished 16th, Johann Zarco finished 17th, Raul Fernandez at 18th, Augusto Fernandez at 19th, Alex Rins 20th, Luca Marini at 21st, Lorenzo Savadori at 22nd, Remy Gardner at 23rd ended the session.

Is Old Marc Marquez back?

Marc Marquez had a great run in the free practice session and finished second behind Brad Binder. He had some tuning done to his bike and was very quick especially in the corners just like his Honda days. Japanese GP MotoGP qualifying will happen tomorrow along with the Sprint race for 12 laps. The winner of the sprint race will gain an additional 12 points, Runner-up will get 9 points and third place will get 7 points. Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia are in contention for this year's MotoGP title.
