The Australian MotoGP star Jack Miller lost twice to wildlife during his home MotoGP race at the Phillip Island circuit. It was a bizarre incident that happened during qualifying which was followed by a Sprint race. It was the worst-ever qualifying result for the Australian in 10 years of his MotoGP career. The Red Bull KTM rider during his qualifying was hit by a hare crossing the track and costing him some of the carbon fibre in his bike.
Racing with the wildlife
He was forced to move to his garage to repair the damaged part and he qualified 16th on the grid. The collision with the hare between turn six and seven has severely damaged his bike's fairing. Then again he started the sprint race and after an incredible run, he moved from 16th to 8th position. But the run was cut short after a seagull smashed his bike making him crash which ended his race on his home grand prix.
Jack 0 - Seagull 1 or is it the other way around? 💥😅 Got a decent start in the Sprint, but a seagull hit the front of the bike… not ideal 🤦♂️ Felt good though, but the bike gave way into Turn 10. One of those days! Looking forward to tomorrow 🤟 pic.twitter.com/AMjwe5CPLJ

During the sprint race, Jack Miller was at turn 1 on the first lap and suddenly the seagull smashed into the front of his bike. It blew the airbox and the whole right-hand part of the bike. Miller continued the race with the seagull on his bike and in the second lap the bird just flapped and jammed with the brake lever and handlebar.

Jack Miller couldn't even pull the lever as the seagull was obstructing his hands. The Australian carried on the race to score points before falling on turn 10 with 5 laps to go. Australia is well known for its wildlife as we can see many different species of Fauna on the continent. The Circuit was many times interrupted by Hares and geese. Many on-track sessions were stopped and red-flagged due to geese and hares running across the tracks.
Unfortunately, the home hero who was expecting a good weekend and his home race was caught in all these troubles with his fellow locals. The Sprint race was won by championship leader Jorge Martin followed by Marc Marquez and Enea Bastianini.
