The reigning world champion’s father welcomes the idea of Liam Lawson replacing Sergio Perez in Red Bull. He wants his son's teammate to be more competitive and push the limits which he doesn't find in Sergio Perez. The star racer signed a new deal with Red Bull a one-year contract extension but his future in the team is uncertain as the Red Bull’s Junior team RB found a driver who could replace him in the future.

Liam Lawson the young rookie from New Zealand already scored 4 points in his 3 races while Sergio Perez scored only 7 points in all the 3 races and that too with a Red Bull car. Checo’s misfortune already costs Red Bull in constructors title this year. The season is nearing the end and Checo is already facing a lot of heat.

Many former drivers and Formula 1 fans are demanding to replace Sergio Perez at Red Bull. Even Helmut Marko said, “Checo has a contract for next year, but we are evaluating the whole situation and by the end of Abu Dhabi we will know all the facts and we will make our decisions.”

Elder Verstappen feels the same

Jos Verstappen father of Max Verstappen now spoke about Liam Lawson replacing Sergio Perez in Red Bull. He said, “I think Lawson is doing very well. It seems logical to me that he is ready to step up. Let him finish this season and build confidence and then the team has to decide what they do for next year.” When asked about Lawson replacing Perez, the elder Verstappen added, “I certainly don't oppose that. It's better if there is someone who is competitive and pushes Max forward a bit. That always helps, but we’ll see.”

Lawson made it clear that he is in Formula 1 to win and not to be the wingman to anyone. The New Zealander said “Obviously, my goal is not to go out and make enemies of anybody, I’m not trying to cause any issues or anything like that. But at the same time, I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to win, and that’s what I'm focused on doing.”

There are also some speculations about Red Bull bringing Franco Colapinto instead of Lawson to replace Sergio Perez next season. Sergio Perez could also take the VCARB seat next year if he was replaced by Red Bull. His one-year contract will be completed at the VCARB racing team.
