Ferrari signed a historical deal by bringing 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton into the Maranello garage in a multi-year deal, starting in 2025. All the credits should go to Former Sauber CEO Fred Vasseur who is very proud of his decision.

Hamilton is expected to break the decade-and-a-half-long championship drought for Ferrari. He will replace Carlos Sainz and team up with Charles Leclerc. The pair became the strongest-ever driver pair for Ferrari in 10 years.

Ex-Ferrari Boss is not happy

Former Ferrari Boss and now Audi F1 team principal Mattia Binotto was not happy with the decision to bring Lewis Hamilton into the Italian team. He feels that bringing up Charles Leclerc as the championship material and signing Lewis Hamilton for Ferrari makes no point to him.

He said, “Lewis made a good decision to go to Ferrari. But Ferrari signing Lewis is not the right call. Ferrari had set its sights on other drivers. And if Leclerc is the star driver, then he is the one we should somehow guide to his goal.”

Binotto also said his friend Vasseur, after moving to Ferrari, did not revolutionize the team. He is carrying the project that he left while exiting the Maranello team. He added, “If Ferrari wins, I am very happy because I know the team and how much effort it has taken to bring it to a certain level.”

The Former Ferrari boss left the team after the 2022 Formula One season. He was heavily criticised by the media especially the Italian media for failing to challenge Max Verstappen and Red Bull with Charles Leclerc. Ferrari is not known to make good strategic calls even during the Vettel era fighting for the championship with Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton. Mercedes won many races that Ferrari should have won by making the right calls and performing under pressure which the Maranello squad failed.
