The July 4, 2025, episode of Friday Night SmackDown was pre-taped after Monday Night Raw. Hence, fans who watched the event took to social media and spoiled what happened on the show. There were some major returns and matches, which highlighted the event. Many of the segments led to the buildup for Saturday Night's Main Event and Evolution 2.0.

Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu vs Solo Sikoa and JC Mateo
Jacob betrayed Solo Sikoa at the Money in the Bank and denied him a chance of winning the event. Solo challenged Fatu for the United States Championship at the Night of Champions. In Saudi Arabia, Fatu faced a 1-on-4 battle, as he was against Sikoa, Mateo, a returning Tonga Loa, and the debutant Tala Tonga.
As Solo went on to beat Fatu to become the US Champion, the latter challenged the former in a tag team match in the pre-taped event. While Solo had the backing of Mateo, Jimmy stood with Fatu, which led to a tag team match. In the end, Jacob pinned Solo and had his say on reclaining the US Title.

Andrade and Rey Fenix vs Fraxiom
SmackDown has undoubtedly the best tag division in WWE and arguably across all of Sports and Entertainment. Two of the best units in the blue brand are Fraxiom and the duo of Andrade and Fenix. The two teams had a match against each other and delivered a good performance.
Trish Stratus returns, challenges Tiffany Stratton for the world title
Trish Stratus last featured in a WWE show earlier this year at the Elimination Chamber, when she teamed up with Tiffany Stratton to take on Nia Jax and Candice LeRae in a tag team match. The duo won the match and did not have a segment with each other. However, the WWE Hall of Famer returned on Friday Night SmackDown and confronted her former tag team partner.
Stratus will challenge Stratton for the world title at Evolution 2.0, which will take place later this month. It's been over 18 years since Stratus last had a shot at the world title. In the first half of the 2000s, Trish was the biggest female superstar of the company. Evolution in Atlanta will feature the former tag team partners as rivals.

Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair join forces
On WWE Raw earlier this week, a 8-woman tag team match was announced with Raquel Rodriguez and ger new tag team partner Roxanne Perez defending the Women's tag titles against a tag team from Raw, SmackDown, and NXT each. Nick Aldis offered Flair to team up with Bliss to form a tag team to face Secret Hervice and the duo of Michin and B-Fab.
After denying to team up with Bliss for weeks lately, Flair finally accepted to be on the same page. The 6-woman tag team match decided the fate of one of the qualifiers to take part at Evolution 2.0. Bliss and Flair worked well as a team and overcame the challenge of their opponents to earn a spot for Evolution 2.0.
Drew McIntyre returns, sets a match against Randy Orton for Saturday Night's Main Event
Cody Rhodes won the King of the Ring 2025 by beating Randy Orton in the final at the Night of Champions. On WWE SmackDown, the duo confronted each other and spoke about the way their match went, where both of them did not waste an opportunity to go beyond all extremes to get the job done. That was when Drew McIntyre returned.
The Scottish Warrior confronted the duo after being out of action for over a month, following the brutal attack from Damian Priest after their match at Backlash. Drew was RKOed by Orton, which set their match for Saturday Night's Main Event.
