Overview
- Cody Rhodes beat Randy Orton at the WWE Night of Champions to become the 2025 King of the Ring
- Jade Cargill overcame Asuka to win the Queen of the Ring 2025 in Saudi Arabia's Riyadh
- While Cody is likely to face John Cena, Cargill could take on Tiffany Stratton at Summerslam
Cody Rhodes and Jade Cargill became King and Queen of the Ring at the WWE Night of Champions 2025, by beating Randy Orton and Asuka in the finals, respectively. While both Randy and Asuka made a case for them winning the crowns, Cody and Cargill had a better chance, given their ongoing stories with John Cena and Tiffany Stratton, respectively.
Cody was the firm favorite to beat Randy in the King of the Ring finals, as it is hard to keep the top guy of the company away from the world title scenario for a long time. Moreover, it was importnat for WWE to book two of its biggest stars for Main Event of the first-ever Night 2 of Summerslam.

On the other hand, Randy made a case for himself to become the King of the Ring, as he had previously lost to Gunther and was screwed by the referees at Backlash 2025. However, the creative team went with Cody, who lost his world title to Cena at WrestleMania 41.
Reason behind Jade Cargill winning the Queen of the Ring crown over Asuka
Likewise, Cargill was chosen over Asuka to be the Queen of the Ring, as she has been in the world title scenario for a long time. A potential match between Asuka and Iyo Sky would have been brilliant, given their history. However, Cargill is given a push due to her star power for a major PLE like the Summerslam.

Asuka just returned to WWE after an injury for over a year and was great to make it to the final in the Queen of the Ring competition. However, it was also important for WWE to move away from the story between Tiffany and Nia Jax, which has been going on for a long time.
