Randy Orton challenged Gunther for the world title at Bash in Berlin. There is a good chance of John Cena returning in the night to set up a triple-threat between him, Gunther, and Randy for the rest of the year. There have been some clues given by Triple H and others about the farewell tour of Cena. The beginning of it could happen with him taking on Randy and Gunther.
In the press conference after SummerSlam, Hunter claimed that Cena would be back in action soon. There were reports that claimed Gunther to be one of the opponents of John during his retirement tour. Orton returned to Raw for the first time since his return at the Survivor Series 2023. All these dots lead to a potential return of John Cena.
Many believe that 2025 would be the start and end of the farewell tour of Cena. But his appearance on Raw before that could lead to the surprise of the fans. There is a reason why the feud could work. It will serve the purpose of a dream match between Gunther and Cena. It could also lead to the ultimate faceoff between Cena and Orton for one last time in their careers.
Will John Cena turn heel in the farewell tour?
The Apex Predator addressed how Gunther did not beat him clean at the King of the Ring. It was unexpected for him to address Gunther, especially after setting his eyes on the Undisputed WWE Championship of Cody Rhodes. A bigger surprise would be the match between Gunther and Randy leading to the involvement of Cena.
It is also a good chance for WWE to have a heel turn of Cena. Randy is currently a face and Gunther a heel. After their triple-threat feud between the three, Cena can don the role of the Doctor of Thuganomics to entertain the fans. Turning heel to go old school would make the fans go crazy and help them see him play the negative role one last time before he retires.
