John Cena could potentially face Randy Orton in the Main Event of Backlash 2025 for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Randy confirmed that Backlash would take place in St. Louis, his hometown. If Cena beats Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania to win the world title, Randy could be his first challenger for the title, and their match could take place at Backlash.

WWE recently announced that Backlash would take place in St. Louis. Orton himself cut a small promo to confirm the same. Since then, fans have been hoping to see a Cena vs Orton match in the latter's hometown. It might make a perfect case, as Randy will be the Babyface in the feud with the crowd on his back.
For that to happen, John must beat Rhodes at WrestleMania. Unless there is outside interference from someone like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Cena could beat Cody to become a record 17th-time world champion. Given the support of The Final Boss, nothing else might stop Cena from winning the Undisputed WWE Championship.

For the first time in the history of WWE, a heel Cena will be facing a face Orton. It could make a great viewership, as the fans will be treated with something they've never seen and might've never anticipated. While Randy is unlikely to win, it could help him to be back in the Main Event scenario.
Randy returned at the Survivor Series 2023 and competed in the Fatal 4-way feud against Roman, AJ Styles, and LA Knight at the Royal Rumble 2024. Apart from that, he got a shot at Gunther's world title at Bash in Berlin. Otherwise, Orton hasn't been in the Main Event scenario.
Hence, Randy needs to face Cena at Backlash. While it could be a great match, it might not be their last match. Orton needs to face Cena somewhere down the line or have a segment with him before his retirement. An ultimate moment of respect is needed to end one of the greatest feuds.
