When Gunther put Damian Priest to sleep at SummerSlam, he won the World Heavyweight Championship, but that isn't the complete tale. Priest may have had the advantage in the bout, but Finn Balor gave his Judgment Day partner the slip by putting The Ring General's foot on the rope to prolong the contest.
On Raw in Baltimore, Gunther was initially presented as the World Heavyweight Champion by Ludwig Kaiser, his partner in the Imperium, but there was a surprise in store for the new champion The fourteen-time WWE World Champion, Randy Orton, entered the ring to the sound of his music as Gunther reminded the audience that nothing could surprise him.
Throughout the day, Bash in Berlin produced several unforgettable moments, which culminated in the incredible main event featuring WWE Heavyweight Champion Gunther against The Viper Randy Orton. There aren't many opponents as intimidating as Gunther, but that all changed when Orton noticed a weakness in Gunther's armor as he was coping with an injured arm.
Gunther was even blasted through the announce table by Orton's all-out onslaught, which took advantage of the situation and brutally attacked the Ring General's shoulder and arm. Notwithstanding the injured limb, Gunther managed to catch Orton off guard with an unbreakable sleeper hold, winning and keeping the title.
The fans in Berlin sang Randy Orton's song to him, but that was nothing compared to the hero's welcome that Gunther received in neighboring Austria. The cheers only got louder when Ludwig Kaiser made an appearance to give The Ring General his trademark ring introduction.

Gunther retians World Heavyweight Championship
Thereafter, the German spectators sang their hearts out during a methodical match that served as the music. Gunther withstood an unexpected RKO to maintain the bout, but Orton appeared to be in complete control as he knocked the champion over the announce table. In an attempt to release the hold, Orson smashed Gunther against the turnbuckle. Although Orton managed to temporarily loosen Gunther's grip, Gunther quickly locked it back in.
Orton broke the sleeper, but Gunther continued to go for the kill, chopping Randy Orton in the back of the neck and then pounding him with many elbow blows to the neck and shoulders. Orton broke the hold after Gunther locked in again. Orton's arm struck the ground, and Gunther was able to hang onto his World Heavyweight Championship. Gunther continued to unleash more elbow blows and lock in the hold.
