Cody Rhodes accepted Solo Sikoa's challenge for the Undisputed WWE Title at SummerSlam last week, incurring the wrath of his Bloodline, who pummelled him and his long-time buddy, Randy Orton, in a brutal attack.  After their SummerSlam fight was announced earlier this week, The American Nightmare appeared on the July 19 broadcast of Friday Night SmackDown to discuss the attack and his opponent for the Biggest Party of the Summer.

Cody Rhodes began by reminiscing on Randy Orton's effect on his career, as well as his remorse at witnessing Orton be pushed through a table by The Bloodline last week. He then shifted his focus to Solo Sikoa, reflecting on their history ahead of their impending title match at SummerSlam.

During the opening section of the live broadcast of WWE SmackDown from the CHI Health Centre in Omaha, Nebraska, boxing champion and Omaha native Terence Crawford made a cameo appearance in the front row.

After the A-Town Down Under combination of Austin Theory and Grayson Waller attacked "The American Nightmare," Crawford assisted the WWE Universal Champion by handing him a steel chair, which he used to clean house on the former WWE Tag-Team Champions.

At that point, Rhodes was stopped by the arrival of A-Town Down Under. After a blame game with him, Austin Theory and Grayson Waller assaulted and tossed him out of the ring. At that time, popular fighter Terence Crawford, who was in attendance, handed him his steel chair, and Rhodes entered the ring to defend himself from the onslaught, standing tall.

As Rhodes mentioned in the episode, there has been a lot of recent disagreement amongst the A-Town Down Under tag team partners. Nick Aldis permitted Cody Rhodes to face Austin Theory and Grayson Waller, but only if he found a tag team partner beforehand. WWE displayed a graphic on the screen to promote Crawford's forthcoming boxing match against Israil Madrimov on August 3, which will compete on pay-per-view against their own WWE SummerSlam: Cleveland premium live event.
