Vince McMahon could be experiencing restless nights these days. Given that Netflix is about to produce a six-part documentary on the business mogul that will thoroughly explore his controversies and alleged predatory tendencies, the former WWE Chairman may be subject to even more public outrage.

The program, which was first finished in 2022, was updated with additional information following the revelation of the McMahon hush money payment scandal in that same year. Vince McMahon left the company after the controversy, but he eventually returned as the Executive Chairman of TKO Group following WWE's merger with the organization. This was six months later.

The Netflix series also explores the fallout from Janel Grant's sex trafficking case. According to a recent revelation, Vince McMahon tried to buy out the show's first footage to stop it from airing. Matthew Belloni revealed this information in Puck's What I'm Hearing newsletter.

Vince McMahon was noted by Belloni in his newsletter as "still nervous about the doc," adding that McMahon had "attempted to buy the project from Netflix." CEO of Endeavour Ari Emanuel had reservations about the show besides McMahon, citing "the doc’s treatment of Vince’s alter ego, 'Mr. McMahon.'"

Vince McMahon advised viewers to have an open mind

Nevertheless, Netflix decided to stick with the project and eventually added more content, especially about the events surrounding Janel Grant's lawsuit for sex trafficking and the hush money payment incident. The series, originally scheduled for publication in March 2024, was delayed due to the lawsuit that became public in January 2024. On September 25, 2024, the series was eventually published after the creators added extra content.

Vince McMahon attacked the show's creators earlier today for employing editing techniques to deceive viewers and fabricate a false narrative about him. The former chairman of WWE said he didn't regret being involved in the project but thought the creators didn't provide an unbiased tale. When viewing the show, McMahon advised viewers to have an open mind and to always remember that there are two sides to every story.
