On this week's Dynamite edition, Will Ospreay emerged victorious in a Casino Gauntlet battle, earning a June 30 pay-per-view match for the AEW world championship against Swerve Strickland. A furious Roderick Strong defeated Lio Rush in a hard-fought match on tonight's (June 1) edition of Collision.
Following the contest, Roderick went over to AEW President Tony Khan behind the scenes and angrily demanded a world title battle between Swerve and him on the upcoming Dynamite edition. As a fellow victim of a serious neck injury, Roderick made a perceptive plea to Tony.
Khan made Roderick's concept official since he enjoyed it so much. In response, Tony was dubbed a genius by the Kingdom. This implies that Strong and Swerve Strickland will face off for the AEW world title in next week's Dynamite show. At Forbidden Door, the champion will face Ospreay for the belt if he emerges victorious.
Strong usually shouts down people, but on his stomp to the rear, he repeatedly yelled "Tony!" as he got closer. Roderick Strong persisted in his vociferous plea, arguing that he should face Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship.
Will Ospreay stakes his international championship
Roddy was successful in presenting his case to his employer, stressing that Tony Khan knew overcoming neck ailments and was himself 'Neck Strong'. Tony Khan agreed it sounded nice and scheduled the bout for this week's AEW Dynamite (June 5).
However, the event might be part of an ongoing plot involving Christopher Daniels, who appears to be serving as Tony Khan's proxy. While watching the confrontation, Daniels did not intervene much, although he did inform Strong that he would not let him back there as Roddy rushed by, saying that he 'just wanted to chat'.
In a battle against Kyle O'Reilly, Will Ospreay stakes his international championship. Ospreay will face the winner of Strickland vs. Strong in a World Championship bout for Forbidden Door.
