Alexa Bliss's face has been used in one of the major fraud cases recently reported. A 79-year-old grandfather, Alfred Mancinelli, who is no more, was convinced that he was in a romantic relationship with the WWE Superstar. The scammers convinced the man to give money, worth over $1 million including his granddaughter's educational college fees, in various sentimental ways.
Alfred's son dug deep and found out the scam after his father had passed away. In the swimming pool, he found the photograph of Alexa Bliss along with his daughters. "There was nothing we could do to convince him," said Mr. Mancinelli who said he could not stop his father from saving $1 million against the scammers.
He believes that Alfred was brainwashed to send money to the fraudsters. The persons behind the scam are yet to be identified. However, they are claimed to be con artists disguised as investment advisers, love interests, government officials, and so on. It is being reported that the individuals would be helpless after being identified as targets.
'They crafted stories that pulled on those heart strings' - Victim's son
"For many people, what is going on is they are looking to fulfill an unmet need for companionship, an unmet need for financial security, an unmet need for a purpose," an expert said. Alfred was trapped by the scammers who made use of his tragic past.
Alfred and his wife had lost their first child at an age of 3. When two of his sons were aged 9 and 14, Alfred lost his wife. Hence, it was evident that it was a big struggle for him to raise his family. He also wanted companionship and the scammers caught the point.
"I believe they crafted stories that pulled on those heart strings," Mr. Mancinelli added. It is being claimed that the conversations dated back to 2018 and the latest ones after 2021 involved Vince McMahon claiming him to be hard on Bliss. In fact, Alfred was so brainwashed that he sued his own son who tried to stop the flow of money.
