AJ Styles injured his leg on his return to WWE Smackdown. The star wrestler returned as a face and was confronted by Carmelo Hayes and LA Knight leading to his match against the former. During the match, AJ twisted his leg and an impact on the same led to him quitting in the middle. The fans wondered if it was a part of the script.

AJ Styles returned to the blue brand and got emotional. While the fans welcomed him well, Carmelo did not care about them. He came straight to the ring and claimed he was a deserving candidate for the US title. While the duo had a verbal battle over each other, Styles called for a match.

As Melo denied the challenge, in came LA Knight and ensured Styles and Hayes took on each other. LA assured that claiming a win over Styles would mean a title shot for Carmelo. The match was brief and eventful. During the match, Styles got his leg twisted. There was a massive impact on the injury.

It led to Styles crawling out of the ring and requesting help. Melo did not go after him and Styles walked back to the locker room. He was treated by medical personnel. It seemed like Styles was in serious pain and was later taken to the scans.

The report on the WWE Superstar is yet to be out. However, it did seem like a genuine injury and not a part of the script. If it was, Melo might have attacked the star wrestler on his way back to the locker room. AJ could be out of action for a few weeks.

It might be bad news for the fans as they have been waiting to see him in action for some time. Melo later went to Nick Aldis to make his match with Knight official. Aldis claimed it was not the time to talk about the title match. The Smackdown GM added that it was time to address AJ's condition.
