WATCH: Gunther takes dig at Bret Hart on WWE Raw, claims Bill Goldberg to be his favorite wrestler over the Hitman

Gunther took a dig at Bret Hart on his return to Monday Night Raw. The Ring General said something the Hitman did not want to hear. The world champion claimed that Bret was his second favorite wrestler of all time behind Bill Goldberg. Given the history between the two, it was wild for Gunther to say that to Bret on his WWE Raw return.

Gunther interrupted the conversation between Bret and Wade Barrett. He indeed gave a tribute to Hart by claiming him to be one of his childhood heroes. He agreed with the fact that Bret is, was, and will remain to be the best in the world. However, there was a catch. Gunther added that he is, was, and will be the best after Hart.

The Ring General felt it was like passing the torch moment and wanted Bret to acknowledge him. He then said what Hart did not want. Gunther claimed that Bret was his second favorite wrestler of all time. He then added that his personal favorite wrestler of all time was none other than Bill Goldberg. Bret did not seem to have any reaction to it despite having a hard past with Goldberg.

Sami Zayn attacks Gunther on WWE Raw

That was when the music of Sami Zayn hit. He felt it was wrong on Gunther's part to disrespect a legend like the Hitman. Sami asked Gunther to accept his challenge to take each other for the world title. Gunther reiterated the fact that Sami was not on his level and denied the challenge. It led to the former Bloodline member attacking the Ring General.

Sami took on Gunther and damaged him. He then went to Bret and hugged him to show his respect for the legendary wrestler. It is to be seen how the feud between Gunther and Sami progresses from here. There is a chance of the match eventually taking place at Bad Blood. So far, the feud has not progressed at a good pace. The upcoming week could witness the feud picking up the pace.
