Drew McIntyre shares strong message in photo with Lamine Yamal

During WWE's recent trip to Spain, Drew McIntyre posted a picture of himself with Spanish football player Lamine Yamal. The conference was held in Barcelona, where the business broadcast SmackDown live. McIntyre shared the picture on Instagram along with a note emphasizing the connection between them.

The allusion relates to McIntyre's 2007 WWE debut, in which he was introduced as "the chosen one" by then-CEO Vince McMahon. McMahon gave Drew McIntyre many chances to show off his skills since he thought he was the company's future. At the moment, Yamal is a winger for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team. The 17-year-old football player has made a name for himself as one of the game's top wingers after growing up in Barcelona's La Masia training program.

Lamine Yamal played an important part in Spain's bid to win the Euro 2024 championship and made a substantial impact on the national squad. On the wrestling front, McIntyre and Damian Priest resume their battle on SmackDown. Priest used his Money in the Bank contract on McIntyre to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL, sparking the start of their almost year-long feud. 

By beating McIntyre at Clash at the Castle: Scotland and keeping him from reclaiming the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Priest heightened the tension in the match. McIntyre's ascent to the top of the WWE Championship rankings was halted when Priest defeated him in the 2025 Men's Elimination Chamber Match.

Triple H praises Lamine Yamal

As WrestleMania 41 draws near, it will be interesting to see what happens next in their feud. WWE superstar Triple H has praised Barcelona's up-and-coming talent Lamine Yamal, calling him the "future" of the storied football team. After Triple H posted a picture of himself with the Barcelona winger and complimented him on social media, the encounter went viral. Triple H wrote, “The future of @FCBarcelona is brighter than ever…enjoy the show, Lamine.”

For the fans there, Yamal's matchup with the legendary Triple H was unquestionably one of the main highlights of an exciting WWE night that included action-packed matchups and the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.  Given the support of a WWE icon, Lamine Yamal's future appears to be as promising as ever, both on and off the football field.
