Throughout their feud, Drew McIntyre will not hesitate to breach any boundaries with CM Punk. In an encounter that took place in the ring before to WWE Royal Rumble this past January, McIntyre and Punk discussed the Scottish Warrior's long-standing grievances with the Second City Saint. During the WWE Royal Rumble, McIntyre gave Punk a Future Shock DDT, which caused Punk's triceps to rip.

Taking full responsibility for the damage, Drew McIntyre famously said he "prayed for this and it happened." For the following half-year, McIntyre would not stop making fun of Punk on social media and during WWE Monday Night Raw. He would frequently include Punk's contentious AEW past in the jabs he would throw at him.

The Scottish Warrior has teamed up with the Scapegoat. WWE's Drew McIntyre took to social media and published a selfie of himself with AEW's Jack Perry. From one perspective, Jack Perry is the reason CM Punk was sacked from AEW. The narrative starts in the early summer of 2023. AEW had introduced AEW Collision, a new Saturday primetime program. While there was no explicit brand split, the early days of AEW Collision showed some sort of roster separation, led by CM Punk.

CM Punk set to make his comeback

Punk went exclusive to AEW Collision to avoid running across Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, and The Young Bucks on AEW Dynamite to maintain harmony within the organization. A week before his scheduled vacation, Jack Perry came to AEW Collision to pre-record a behind-the-scenes section for an upcoming AEW show. Perry was meant to be inserted through a genuine automobile windshield made of glass. Punk stepped in and voiced worries about possible harm. The two then got into a furious dispute.

Backstage, Perry was approached by Punk following the bout. This time, Perry shoved Punk, and Punk choked Perry in retaliation. Their quarrel had become violent. AEW Dynamite broadcast the entire argument between the two earlier this year. A few days following AEW ALL IN: London, Tony Khan, the President of AEW, dismissed Punk "with cause." That November, Punk will make his WWE comeback.
