Eddy Thorpe was attacked by an undisclosed person on WWE NXT ahead of his main event match against Oba Femi and Trick Williams on New Year Evil. Given Eddy's past actions against Ava, fans took a wild guess and claimed The Rock to be behind the attack. The Final Boss is the father of the NXT GM in real life.
A few weeks ago on the developmental brand, Eddy lost his match against Oba Femi to get a shot at the NXT title. However, it went in vain as Oba was too good to be beaten. Thorpe used a shortcut to get into the main event scene. He faked being attacked by someone backstage on NXT.
He argued with Ava and indirectly threatened her to give her a spot in the NXT title scene. Ava had no option as she thought Thorpe was legitimately attacked by someone and gave him a shot at the world title. It led to a triple-threat feud between Oba, Trick Williams, and Thorpe.
Why The Rock might've attacked Eddy Thorpe on WWE NXT?
It was found out later that Eddy was not attacked by anyone. Thorpe himself claimed that it was his trick to get himself into the main event scene. Since then, Ava has been upset with the emerging star. Fans took to social media and claimed The Final Boss was behind the attack on Eddy for the same reason.
The Rock made his return to WWE Raw on Netflix and watched the Tribal Combat between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. The Final Boss even crowned the OTC with the Ula Fala after his win over Solo. He congratulated Roman and praised Cody Rhodes for carrying the company on his back.
Backstage on Raw, he shared a beer with Rhodes and ended their enmity. The Rock interacted with the likes of Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, Travis Scott, and others. Before leaving the arena, The Rock made an announcement that he would show up on WWE NXT during the New Year Evil.
