Will Oba Femi become NXT Champion leading to Trick Williams' main roster callup? (Source: X)
Oba Femi won the Iron Survivor Match at NXT Deadline and earned himself a shot at Trick Williams for the NXT title. The duo will be up against each other in a feud that could establish Oba as the Ruler of NXT. It might also mean Trick could be heading to the main roster in the upcoming weeks.
Oba has been arguably the best Superstar on NXT in 2024. He is arguably the greatest NXT North American Champion. Under his title reign, the NXT North American title was almost as prestigious as the NXT Championship. After his purpose as the midcard champion was complete, Femi lost his title to Tony D'Angelo.
His focus is now to become the NXT Champion. Trick Williams is not an easy opponent for Oba Femi. While the Ruler of NXT has everything it takes to overcome Trick, there would certainly be resistance from the NXT Champion. However, there is a good chance of him becoming the NXT Champion in the next couple of months.
Stars aligned for Oba Femi's NXT title win and Trick Williams' main roster call-up?
On Raw and Smackdown, there will be a change of brands for certain wrestlers. Likewise, some of the NXT stars will be called to the main roster having completed their purpose on the developmental brand. It looked like Williams was ready to be on the main roster.
While his in-ring skills are not among the best, Trick is super 'over', has great charisma, and is good on the mic. While Oba is better than Trick in all aspects, he needs to be an NXT Champion before getting the main roster call-up. Hence, his winning the NXT title might be a step toward the main roster call-up.
Trick can be drafted to Smackdown to revisit his feud with Carmelo Hayes. There might not be a better opponent than Oba to dethrone him as champion. Ilja Dragunov headed to the main roster after dropping the NXT title to Trick earlier this year. Oba might just become the NXT Champion in the next few weeks.
