Cody Rhodes teased a heel turn during his promo with Roman Reigns on the latest episode of Friday Night Smackdown. The world champion got the heat from the fans almost getting approval for the change in his character. It might have given the company an idea about Cody's potential future. He can turn out to be a great heel if executed well.

In the promo with Roman, Cody walked into the arena and spoke to the OTC. He initially agreed with what Roman had to say. Cody accepted that Roman is WWE. However, he put on a condition and added that Roman was WWE. He claimed things have changed in the last few months.

The American Nightmare felt he was the face of the company after beating Reigns at WrestleMania. Cody's comment did not sit well with the fans who booed him. The star wrestler did not give heed to it and continued to address Roman. Jacob and Solo Sikoa interfered and ensured that Cody signed the contract.

It is worth noting that the fans were ready to boo their champion whom they have loved all these years. It might be the best reason for the creative team to turn Cody Rhodes heel. It does seem like Cody's story has gotten a bit stale after becoming the world champion.

The best way to present him would be as a negative character. In the days to come, he is likely to go against Roman Reigns. As the OTC has become the biggest babyface in years, the best possible scenario would be to set a great heel against him. Cody seems to be a great fit for the role.

In one of the interviews earlier this year, the Undertaker claimed Cody to be a great babyface. However, he felt that the role of Cody as a heel would be far better than his current reign as a face. The creative team might not hesitate to make the Undertaker's opinion a reality in the near future.
