Over the years, WWE has developed a robust tag team division inside NXT, an important form of pride for the company. This category had a great chance to shine because to No Mercy 2024, and two of the best teams gave standout performances.
At WWE NXT No Mercy 2024 in Denver, the NXT Tag Team Championship was in play. Nathan Frazer and Axiom were a powerful team, while Chase University, under the direction of Andre Chase and Ridge Holland, successfully defended their title. The game served as an example of the different methods, pitting Chase University's power and strategy against the technical competence and lightning-fast reactions of its opponents.
The NXT broadcast on August 13 saw Chase University's victory over Axiom and Nathan Frazer to win the NXT Tag Team Championship, setting up this encounter. After Chase University celebrated their triumph the next week, Axiom and Frazer approached them and asked for a rematch. If Axiom and Nathan Frazer could defeat him and Riley Osborne, as they did, Duke Hudson promised to consider it. This led to the rematch at No Mercy.
At ringside, Axiom jumped on Chase with all of his might. Frazer lunged at Holland, but the heavyweight grabbed him and threw him against the apron. Frazer and Axiom continued to battle as they fell onto Holland. Holland was knocked out with a kick from Axiom, and Frazer scored a two-count with a 450 splash. Chase U answered back for a two-count with a Doomsday Device.
Frazer was able to finish off Chase with a Phoenix Splash
Chase was then double-teamed by Axiom and Frazer for a two-count. Frazer was unintentionally shaken by Axiom as Chase avoided the Golden Ratio. Holland used a lariat to finish Axiom, and Chase U delivered a powerbomb and backstabber for two counts. Relentlessly, Frazer dived onto Holland in the ringside. After that, Frazer won with a Phoenix Splash.
After a misunderstanding between Axiom and Frazer in the last seconds, Ridge Holland almost won by dropping a powerbomb on Axiom. But Frazer was able to finish off Chase with a Phoenix Splash, earning a decisive victory and establishing the new NXT Tag Team Champions to begin No Mercy.
