There have been some brilliant players who came into the scene despite the dominance of the big three still existing among us. One of the players we were looking forward to was Dominic Thiem who was playing his last US Open tournament this season. The 31-year-old though might have not had the most decorated careers, but still gave us some great moments in the game and won the tournament back in 2020 as well.

Dominic Thiem was set to play American young sensation Ben shelton in the first round and the fans were looking forward to seeing what the Austrian had in store for us in the game. Unfortunately Thiem went on to lose his first round match in straight sets and faced an early elimination, but still was respected by everyone including his opponent Ben Shelton after the game.

The end result was not really the best for Thiem where he had to bow out against the skill of the young and talented Ben Shelton, but he was still appreciated by the fans and the people at Flushing Meadows after the game. Thiem also gave an emotional speech to his fans who were cheering him on. The 31-year-old was visibly trying to control his tears but eventually got through the speech and gave his final goodbyes and thanked the fans in the venue where he enjoyed one of his greatest moments in the game of tennis.

This was clearly a moment to never forget for the Austrian who still played some great tennis where he was one of the few competitive players in the game. There was barely a dry eye in the crowd and we will surely miss Thiem and his explosive backhands which gave us some great games down the line. This has still been a career that all of us need to appreciate and we all have to thank him for making tennis one of the most exciting games in the modern day.
