No one believed he had a chance against the King Of Clay Rafael Nadal. However, Soderling had surprised Nadal in this contest already with his brutal groundstrokes winning the first set convincingly. Even though Nadal won the next set, the other two sets once again saw the young Swede's comeback which resulted in one of the biggest upsets in the Roland Garros. We all know that Steffi Graff was one of the best players in that era and she was up against one of the best teenage sensations Monica Seles who went on to become a legend herself. A young Seles had just won back-to-back Roland Garros titles that season and this was her second encounter with the great German. However, this turned into a great battle where we also saw the best of Graff in her final years in the game. Seles eventually won her third consecutive title, but this was one of the toughest games she has played and we as tennis fans enjoyed the battle between the two.

This was a 5 set clash which saw two Americans battle it out on the day whether it was the powerful backhands of Agassi or the resilience and powerful forehands from Courier. It was Courier who was the one who ended up being victorious and winning his first-ever grand slam title after getting the better of Agassi in the last two sets. This is exactly what happened to the likes of Soderling in 2009 andNovak Djokovic in 2015. This made the people believe that it was always a curse to beat Nadal before the finals. Fortunately 2021 was t, he first time this superstition was completely put to rest as Djokovic not only beat El Nino in the semis but also beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in the finals despite being two sets down.
