The rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz has quickly become one of the most compelling storylines in tennis. With both stars showing remarkable consistency, they have now split the last seven major titles between them. Following their recent battles, Tennis enthusiasts are already predicting that this rivalry could define the sport for the next decade.
Most recently, Sinner avenged his loss at Roland Garros by defeating Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final. The Roland Garros final had seen Alcaraz stage a miraculous comeback to clinch the title.

In a recent interview with Cronache di Tennis, former US Open champion Dominic Thiem praised the rise of Alcaraz and Sinner. “The finals at Roland Garros and Wimbledon were incredible. They raised the bar of this sport beyond what we were used to,” said Thiem. “They play faster and faster, but they make fewer mistakes and move better and better. I didn’t expect two more generational talents to arrive so quickly after the Big Three. And Novak [Djokovic] is still playing.”
In 2025, Alcaraz has lost six games while Sinner has lost only three
Thiem, however, mentioned that on a perfect day, there are still players who can challenge them — naming Grigor Dimitrov, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, and Jack Draper as potential threats heading into the upcoming US Open, scheduled from August 24 to September 7, 2025.
“Today they’re too far ahead,” Thiem admitted. “Then they, too, can lose: we saw it with Grigor Dimitrov at Wimbledon, or even Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, and Jack Draper, if they play perfectly. I doubt they’ll win every Slam in the next 10 years, but today they’re one step ahead of everyone.”

Thiem also reflected on what it would have been like to face the two in his prime. “I would have liked to play against Alcaraz and Sinner in my prime. I don’t know how it would have ended, but we would have had fun.”
The numbers speak for themselves in 2025. Alcaraz has lost only six matches out of 54 played, while Sinner has suffered just three losses.
