'We have been played' - Nick Kyrgios reacts as Jannik Sinner reappoints his former coach, Umberto Ferrara (X)

Nick Kyrgios took a dig at Jannik Sinnerreappointing Umberto Ferrara as his coach with a post on X. The Australian claimed that everyone was played by Sinner and his team. Umberto was reportedly the one who bought a spray called Trofodermin through which the doping substance was detected in Sinner's intake, which led to his 90-day ban.
"He got the same doc back," the Australian wrote on X, along with 'laughing-face emojis'. "We have been played, ladies and gentlemen," Kyrgios added with five 'potato' emojis.

It wasn't the first instance of Kyrgios taking a dig at Sinner over the issue. When he first heard about the news, the star player claimed it was a sad day for him, who started playing Tennis at the age of 7. He prayed for the kids to take the right way of inspiration to play at the highest level.
"Sad day for me - someone who has played this sport since I was 7 years old. I pray that kids who play this sport do it the right way," said Kyrgios when Sinner was banned by WADA for three months from all forms of Tennis.

"Umberto has played an important role in Jannik's development," - Jannik Sinner's team
Sinner's team, however, explained the move to reappoint Ferrera, claiming he had learnt from his mistakes. The statement claimed that he would be a part of Sinner's team in tournaments like the Cincinnati Open and the US Open.
"The decision has been made in alignment with Jannik's management team as part of ongoing preparations for upcoming tournaments, including the Cincinnati Open and US Open. Umberto has played an important role in Jannik's development to date, and his return reflects a renewed focus on continuity and performance at the highest level," his team said in a statement.
