'He' an emotional player' - Patrick Mouratoglou compares Carlos Alcaraz to Novak, Roger, and Rafa

Patrick Mouratoglou recently compared to the mentality of Carlos Alcaraz with that of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. Patrick claimed that Carlos is a very emotional player unlike the Big 3. Mouratoglou noted that the Big 3 hardly cramped in any of their match in their entire career while Alcaraz did at a very young age.

"If you look at Roger Federer, Rafa, and Novak, have you seen them cramp once in a match? All their careers? He cramped many times already, only at 20. He's an emotional player," claimed Patrick. He was not too surprised by the fact that the Spaniard lost the US Open match in straight sets.

He claimed that Carlos has done a lot in his career so far and added that he is taking a bit too much of pressure on each of the event. Patrick noted how emotional Carlos got for losing his maiden Olympic final match to Novak Djokovic. Patrick felt Carlos put everything on the table in all his events.

"He put everything, mentally, emotionally, of course, physically and tennis-wise, on the table to win them, because it's got counted so much. And when it counts so much for you, emotionally, it's draining. Carlos Alcaraz was exhausted, mentally exhausted," added Patrick who felt Alcaraz was mentally exhausted.

He was not surprised by the fact that Carlos lost the US Open match in the early stages. Oatrick felt the youngster was dealing with a lot of thoughts and emotions in the big Grand Slam. He claimed Carlos to be drained and added that winning was not easy when one was in a state like Carlos was.

"I'm not surprised that he’s saying he had so many thoughts and emotions that he couldn’t deal with. That’s exactly the consequence of someone who is emotionally drained. If you’re not fresh [mentally], it’s more and more difficult to do it," added Patrick. Alcaraz has not been able to win any tournament after winning the Wimbledon 2024.
