Swaitek wasn't able to win any titles in the 2025 year and collapsed badly in the big matches. The fans and tennis fraternity have been seen lashing out at her after her horrendous back-to-back showings where she has failed to storm into the final matches. Speaking about the same subject, former Canadian star Rick Macci has raised concern over the Polish star's recent struggles on the WTA tour. She has never lost to Gauff, but this wasn't the case in the last encounter.

Rick Macci voiced concerns about Iga Swiatek's flop show in WTA tours

Rick Macci, a well-known coach of Serena Williams and her sister Venus Williams, was seen making the bold statements after Swiatek's horrendous show in the Spanish capital, Madrid. Notably, the 23-year-old tennis star was seen struggling with a mental breakdown while hiding her tears with a towel after losing the semi-final battle to Gauff. Swiatek was the defending champion and dominated clay courts in 2024 but failed to continue her success in 2025.

"Mentally at times Iga is different. You could count unforced errors on one hand and now it is both hands and both feet. Before on the dirt, everybody thought they had a chance for the W. Now they expect the W. But she can turn it around, as she has championship DNA IN THE BACK POCKET. Her once strength has become her weakness. Even the matches she has been winning, she is half of the champion we know," Macci wrote on X.
