The impact was severe, causing her to fall and cry in pain, unable to hold back her tears.

The two-time Grand Slam finalist was visibly emotional after the resumption of play, suggesting that her injury might be serious enough to sideline her for an extended period.
Paolini was scheduled to compete later in the day in women's doubles with her compatriot Sara Errani. However, the No. 4 singles player made the decisive call to withdraw from the match due to an injury. Since the beginning of the 2025 season, Paolini has not met the elevated standards she established last year.
