Despite the fact that Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are on the "short" list, Novak doesn't appear to be confounded over which of the two aces was his best opponent. Ahead of the Qatar Open Novak Djokovic is still going strong even though he as an knee injury. During an event, Novak Djokovic was asked about his toughest opponent; without any thought, he picked Rafael Nadal.
"You probably know the names of Federer and Nadal. I would say that Nadal stands out as the biggest opponent and rival. Yes," Djokovic said. The first meeting between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal took place in 2006, which is already eighteen years ago. It happened in the quarterfinal of Roland Garros.

Even though the match ended in a lackluster fashion with Djokovic's retirement in the third set, it laid the groundwork for a rivalry that would last for nearly 20 years. Djokovic dominated Melbourne's hard courts, taking home eleven titles in the process.
