Tennis sensation Alex de Minaur has been eliminated from the French Open 2025. Star player Alexander Bublik defeated the Aussie sensation with a scoreline of 2-6, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2. He was one of the most formidable players on the ATP tour and was expected to at least make it to the quarter-finals or semi-finals in the ongoing tournament.
Alex de Minaur's struggling French Open 2025 campaign
De Minaur had the stronger start to the game as he smacked breathtaking shots to take the lead in the first set. He continued his great form heading to the next set and was just one set win away from storming into the third round of Roland Garros. Surprisingly, Bublik staged his comeback and won the last three sets, shattering the hopes of the 26-year-old ATP star.
After crashing out from the second Grand Slam of the year, De Minaur has criticised the ATP scheduling. The tennis star has stated that he didn't get enough rest and recovery before heading to the Roland Garros. The 26-year-old star player talked about the long duration of a full season once it gets resumed. He revealed that such back-to-back matches have a major impact on his mental health.
"No one's got a solution. But the solution is simple… You shorten the schedule, right? What's not normal is that for the last three or four years, I've had two days off after the Davis Cup and I've gone straight into preseason, straight into the new season again. Once you start, you don't finish until Nov. 24. So it's never ending. I'm still dealing with that right now. The solution is you shorten (the tour), because what's going to happen is players' careers are going to get shorter and shorter because they're just going to burn out mentally. There's just too much tennis," Alex de Minaur said.
