Despite being one of the best tennis players in the history of the game, Alexander Bublik is best known for his antics on and off the court. Whether it's breaking a racket or speaking his mind freely, the star player isn't a stranger to controversy. The star player might just have created a new tussle after speaking his mind on the retirements of tennis legends Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray. Andy Murray retired from tennis after the conclusion of the 2024 Paris Olympics, which was a fitting end to the three-time major champion.
However, Rafael Nadal has retired at the Davis Cup wearing the Spanish red in his final thriller. For this Russian star, both of them kept going for too long and used colorful language to convey his point of view in the game. Interestingly, the 27-year-old tennis star has corrected himself in the same interview, calling it a disgrace instead of a circus, finding out that description should be at least more fitting. However, that's unlikely to make many tennis fans feel any better about this game.
"One wants to leave at their peak. Clearly, I'm not Rafa, my legacy will be much smaller, if you can call it that. These people achieved everything, even we tennis players looked at them with open mouths in the locker room, and then you see one of them bald and old," Alexander Bublik said for Nadal.
Andy Murray didn't escape either from the criticism
While most of what Bublick said in the interview seems to be related to Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray didn't escape either from the criticism. He found Andy Murray's choice of joining Novak Djokovic's team to be another version of simply overstaying in the game. "I hope it won't be like that for me, but I can't say for sure. Maybe at 36, I'll be playing in the Challenger in Bangkok, but I still hope that I'll leave with a calm soul," he said about Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic.
