'I literally just made fun of' - Coco Gauff shocked to see herself in Frances Tiafoe's shoes during French Open

Tennis star Coco Gauff grabbed a stellar win in the opening round of the French Open 2025 before not committing a major gaffe before the start of the game. However, it did not affect her game, as Gauff easily stormed into the second round of the prestigious tournament with a scoreline of 6-2, 6-2.

The 22-year-old tennis star was seen walking onto the iconic Philippe-Chartrier court against Oliva Gadecki only to know that she didn't have a single racquet in her bag. However, a ball boy was seen returning to her with her racquets, allowing the game to begin without much delay.

However, Gauff then went on the court and defeated her Aussie opponent to storm into the second round of the second Grand Slam of the year. The tennis star player was asked about the incident, drawing a huge laugh and cheers for this incident from the French Open fans in her post-match speech.

She later revealed that her coach had taken her equipment to put the new grip on them and that he forgot to pull them back. The star player has alluded to the incident with Frances Tiafoe, where he found himself in the same situation during Indian Wells 2025. The tennis player further stated that she would have to not do that anymore after seeing herself in the same situation.

"The culprit is not in the box. Because he knows the rackets are supposed to be in my bag. Honestly, as long as I have been on tour, my coach has put the rackets in the bag before the match because he is very superstitious. So he likes to grip each racket new each day. I don't care, I can play with a dirty grip. And so, I go on the court and I realize I have no rackets. And I literally just made fun of Frances Tiafoe for it in Madrid. Now I will just be quiet. But I am blaming it on my coach, so it's okay," Gauff said.
