Tennis star Iga Swiatek recently discussed an aspect of her game that seems far from perfect, highlighting why she struggled with techniques compared to star player Carlos Alcaraz. The star player made these remarks after winning the opening round of the Stuttgart Open 2025.
Notably, world number two received a first-round bye, which allowed her to place in the Round of 16. The world number two then faced qualifier Jana Fett in her opening game. Swiatek defeated Fett with a scoreline of 6-2, 6-2 to storm into the quarter-finals of the showpiece event.
The Pole Star had a great start to the game, having an early lead with her breathtaking performances. She continued her form in the second set of the game, dominated the pace, and controlled her key serves to storm into the quarter-finals of the prestigious event.
Iga Swiatek hails Carlos Alcaraz's shot-making ability
The star player was asked about adding drop shots to her game plan during her post-match conference after she stormed into the last eight rounds. However, the star player said that she only used these skills on occasions where she was unsuccessful.
The tennis star revealed that she was keen to learn this technique but was failing to do so far. The star player further added that using the shot didn't come naturally to her, unlike ATP world ranking two Carlos Alcaraz, who has been executing these shots since he was a child.
"I mean, one. It didn't work, so. Yeah, that's the idea, but it's not like something new. I always wanted to do that, but for sure the technique isn't perfect yet. If I haven't been doing that since I'm a kid, like Carlos, for example, then it's a bit harder to force it, you know, later on. So, yeah, I want to try because this is the only way to improve that and to learn how to do that," said Swaitek.
