Iga Swiatek did something legends like Chris Evert and Steffi Graf could not. The Polish star won her third French Open Women's Singles title in a row and joined the elite club of players to have achieved the feat. It is her fourth Roland Garros title in the last five years, which is an incredible achievement indeed. Steffi and Evert never won by Roland Garros three times in a row.

Evert was a menace on the clay courts. She won the French Open back-to-back in three instances. In 1974 and 1975, 1979 and 1980, and in 1985 and 1986, she managed to win the title two times in a row. On the other hand, even Graff managed to achieve the winning feat, the title consecutive times in two instances.

The German Tennis legend achieved the feat in 1987 and 1988, and 1995 and 1996 respectively. However, neither of them managed to win the coveted title thrice in a row even once. Swiatek beat a young Jasmine Paolini to secure her fourth French Open title in five years, a feat which is achieved by only one other star in this century. Interestingly, she achieved the hat trick as well.

Iga Swiatek maintains massive gap against Coco Gauff in world rankings

Justine Henin of Belgium achieved the feat in the 2000s. The former star won the titles in 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007. Iga had won her fifth title of the year already. The Polish won the Madrid Open and the Italian Open ahead of the Roland Garros. Before that, she won the Qatar Open and BNP Paribas Open in Doha and Indian Wells respectively.

With the win against Paolini, Swiatek has strengthened the gap between herself and the second seed in the world rankings. Coco Gauff recently became the world number two with her performance in the French Open. Iga leads her by a huge margin of nearly 4000 points. The domination of Swiatek could mean that she has a good chance of ending the year as World number one.
