The US Open has been one of the most surprsing tournaments so far where we have already seen some of the top players on the card getting eliminated early into the competition. The Only player out of the top three who is still alive in the contest is World number one Jannik Sinner who has made it to another Grand Slam quarter final after beating Tommy Paul in the 4th round.

There is no doubt that Jannik Sinner is currently the player who has been ruling the game right now, but the controversies of his doping scandal has still caused a lot of debate even today. This is perhaps one of the most controversial topics where there are a lot of opinions given by plenty of ex-players and proffesionals on whether he needed a harsher punishment than he got on the matter.

Federer enters the debate

There is no doubt Sinner will continue being one of the favorites to win the current Grand Slam tournament, but there are still people who do not agree with the ITF's decision and think that Sinner has got preference only beacuse he is a World number one. There have already been plenty of former World number 1's and experts who have given their opinion, but this time it was the Swiss Maestro Roger Federer's turn to enter the debate as well.

The 20-time Grand Slam winner gave his opinion on the case saying " I understand the frustration of, 'Has he been treated the same as others? And I think this is where it comes down to. I think we all trust pretty much that Jannik didn’t do anything, but the inconsistency potentially that he didn’t have to sit out while they weren’t 100 percent sure what was going on, I think that’s the question here that needs to be answered." In the end Federer also went onto say that whatever it is we all have to trust the process in the end. These are once again wise words from the legend himself.
