WATCH: Jannik Sinner goes through to round 4 after straight victory against O' Connell in Round 3 of US Open

The first week of the US Open this season has been full of drama and we have enjoyed all the great matches that we witnessed in this tournament. This has been a tournament full of great performances and surprising results that have got all of us hooked to this Grand Slam event. 

The one player who is the only top 3 seeded player and still alive in the tournament is Jannik Sinner, who just played his third round game against Christopher O' Connell in the Grand Slam event.Though Sinner on paper was the favorite to win this game as well, we cannot count out the surprising results we have seen in the tournament and the Italian still had to play his best game on the day.

Sinner gets another straight victory

There is no doubt that Sinner would still be under pressure seeing that two of his greatest rivals have also faced big losses against lower seeded player, however it seemed liked the Italian was still looking in great form and it was not surprising to see him dominate the Australian in the first set by a score of 6-1. This dominance carried out in the next two sets as well where Sinner was still looking in great touch with scores of 6-4 and 6-2. This was another great performance from the World number one who still keeps his chances alive.

This amazing win now makes sure Sinner has qualified through to the fourth round of the US Open and will want to continue this great form going forward as well. The Italian sensation will still be facing some competition going forward, but with the consistency he has shown so far, it will not be surprising if he wins his second Grand Slam this season and get the big points to keep the number one spot in the ATP rankings. He will now face either Tommy Paul and Diallo in round 4 and is only one win away from the playoffs.
