The world number one, Jannik Sinner's, this year was nothing short of extraordinary. From being named in the unexpected doping controversy to clinching two Grand Slam titles (Australia Open 2024, U.S. Open 2024) and reaching the ATP top spot, the star player experienced the ups and downs that this sport brings out.

However, despite his impressive performances and magnificent wins, the doping controversy continues to cast a shadow, as recently being fuelled by Aussie star Nick Kyrgios, of course. Amidst the drama, former Italy player Sara Errani has now stepped up in support of the world number one, Jannik Sinner, and defended him well.

The 37-year-old star player defended Sinner by taking a strong jibe at Aussie star player Nick Kyrgios in her recent interview. The Italian tested positive for Clostebol in March and suspended the ban for eight days. His 2024 Indian Wells winning prize money was stripped off too. After this case, a plethora of tennis players and analysts criticised him, including Nick Kyrgios.

However, it seems that Nick's comments for Jannik Sinner didn't sit well with Sara Errani. The former world number one shared her opinion and criticised Nick in the return.

He seemed self-centred, and I didn’t like him that  much. Sara Errani

“I don’t know him [Kyrgios] personally. He has a very strong personality, and I’ve always liked him. Watching him play is a show. Thinking about my character, I shouldn’t like him, but I like him. Lately he’s made a few bad and unfortunate comments; in that case, I didn’t like him that much. I’m not just talking about what he said about Sinner. He made some rather strong statements. Then when you’re not around and you play less... he seemed self-centred, and I didn’t like him that much,” said Errani.
