Novak Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam winner, is no new to winning & defending Titles and achieving Milestones. The 37-year-old Serbian, who recently won the Olympics Gold in Paris, has his sight set on defending his US Open crown at the Flushing Meadows. Post Olympics, Djokovic withdrew from the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Masters, and hence, he will arrive at the Flushing Meadows with a little less practice than his arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz, who participated in the latter event. However, one can never count Novak Djokovic out of the list of favourites, be it any tournament across the globe.

Here is the list of 5 milestones that Djokovic can potentially breach at the US Open 2024:-

5) First US Title Defense

Novak Djokovic won his first US Open Title in 2011. Since then, he has won it 3 more times - in 2015, 2018, and 2023. Although Djokovic managed to reach finals on consecutive occasions at the Flushing Meadows ( 2011-12; 2015-16) he has never managed to defend his crown. He lost to Andy Murray in 2012 and Stan Wawrinka in 2016 while defending his US Open Title.

4) Top of Grand Slam Ladder with 25 Titles

Novak Djokovic holds the record for winning the highest number of Grand Slam titles among male tennis players, with a total of 24 victories. However, in the all-time list, he currently shares this achievement with Margaret Court, who also has 24 singles Grand Slam titles to her name, including those from the amateur era. Recently in the Australian Open, Djokovic had an opportunity to breach this significant milestone, but he experienced a loss to Jannik Sinner in the semifinals.

3) Oldest Singles Grand Slam Winner

Novak Djokovic may very well prove that Age is just a number in Flushing Meadows if he lifts his 5th US Open Title. The record for the Oldest Singles Grand Slam Champion is presently held by Ken Roswell, who achieved it in the Australian Open in 1972 at the age of 37 years and 2 months. If Djokovic wins the US Open 2024, he will achieve the feat at the age of 37 years and 3 months.

2) Century of Career Titles

The Serbian Tennis Superstar is on the verge of achieving his 100th career title. In terms of several titles won in the open era, Djokovic (99) sits at the third spot, just 4 behind Roger Federer (103) and 10 behind Jimmy Connors (109).

1) Match the Record for Highest US Open Titles

Roger Federer, Jimmy Connors and Pete Sampras are the only 3 men's Singles players from the Open era to win the US Open Title Five Times. If Djokovic manages to replicate his Paris heroics, he can join this elite list of players who have the crown of flushing meadows for a record five times.
