Fact Check: Did Jannik Sinner, Anna Kalinskaya unfollow each other on Instagram after rumours of World No. 1 spreading tonsillitis to his girlfriend?

Social media has always been at the forefront of sparking speculation, spreading rumours, and creating misunderstandings. Celebrities often fall prey to this 'phenomenon'. They are celebrated once and later will be brought down by the same fans. Star tennis couple Jannik Sinner and Anna Kalinskaya are the latest victims of such unacceptable behaviour.

Ever since the two confirmed their relationship during the French Open in May 2024, they have been spotted supporting each other and sharing cute moments. They soon became fan favourites with their pictures and videos of them flooding social media.

However, on Saturday (August 10), a rumour spread on X (formerly Twitter) that Anna and her boyfriend had unfollowed each other on Instagram. An image also surfaced online with a caption that says the recent rumours of Sinner spreading his tonsillitis to Anna was the reason. It spread like wildfire and soon several media outlets took up the matter.

It is not sure whether they unfollowed each other on Instagram and later decided to follow back after the media picked up the matter. Or could be a technical problem from the social networking platform. However, at the moment, the couple are following each other on Instagram.

The latest development comes just weeks after the couple was spotted holidaying together in Sardinia, Italy. Things have not gone well in the professional field for both of them since the Wimbledon championship last month. Anna had to end her campaign in the early stages due to injury while the World No. 1 crashed out in the quarter-finals.    

Meanwhile, the vibrant couple made a comeback in the ongoing Canadian Open 2024. Sinner started his campaign with a dominant win against Borna Coric. But Anna had to retire from the round of 16 match against Anisimova.
